French surf rock? I’m on board (a bad pun that is conveniently also the tittle of this song!). I am basically all for anything that sounds like the B52’s without actually being that band. It’s just lo-fi enough to fit in with the hazy dream pop I’ve been obsessed with for the last year-and-change, but has the added elements of spacey new wave synths and a quietly badass frontwoman whose every tenth word I can actually understand. I feel like this sort of album would have been a logical next step for C.S.S.

Last night, Philip and I discovered a carryout with possibly the last hidden backstock of Four Loko in existence downtown. We celebrated by making craft projects on my bedroom floor and listening to the new Mickey Brown album, Soul Glo. In addition to providing the perfect soundtrack for drunk collaging, the album has some pretty choice song titles, including Dietcokehed, Copasetic Cooties, and the timeless Cum Softly. My favorite track is H.Y.F. I have no idea what that stands for, though I’m confident a 14-year-old will inform me sooner or later.
