Prefuse 73 — Storm Returns (feat. Tommy Guerrero)
I had the first and only party ever to take place at my parents’ house on my 18th birthday, in May 2004. My step-father worked nights and my mother was on vacation, so I had the entire place to myself, unsupervised. The guestlist was a kind of mish-mash of high school friends and their friends and friends who’d graduated a year or two ago and weren’t above attending my party.
Leo DeBoe was the ex-boyfriend of one of the latter. He gave me a mix cd choc full of all the IDM I should have been listening to, but wasn’t. It was my first introduction to Prefuse 73, Chris Clark, Röyksopp, Astrobotnia and others. The cd is long gone, but I’m trying to re-create the track list from memory. This song was the opener.
